Creepy Stalkers

I’ve never been stalked. At least, if I have been stalked, it’s been by someone who did so in a fashion that is subtle enough that I didn’t notice it. I’ve also never stalked anyone. I’ve googled people, and I assume that most people do that. As an adolescent, I would do the “drive by” maneuver to at the houses boys who I had crushes on and put myself in their paths but nothing that involved delusions that they might appreciate it or creating a vivid fantasy of my life with them. I may be too apathetic for that sort of thing. I’ve known people who were victims of stalkers and it really isn’t very funny or cute at all.

On a cross country flight, I watched a VH-1 show called Decades Live where they showcased Elvis Costello with Billie Joe Armstrong, Death Cab for Cutie and Fiona Apple honoring Big E and his influence on modern music. I’m a fan of Elvis Costello and have been since the end of the 1970’s. Not enough to stalk, but I think he’s real swell, like his writing style, his music, his geeky glasses, the whole shebang. One of the songs performed in this tribute was a duet with Elvis and Fiona Apple where she sang “I Want You” in a very creepy and alluring way. If I was to be stalked, I’d pick to be stalked by Fiona Apple.

Pru: Lindsey Buckingham doesn't do much for me but I can appreciate the appeal. Actually there are quit a few that wouldn't bother me all that much if they took to stalking.

I don't want to be stalked at all but I like Ms. Apple's vocal stylings just fine.

Vocal that I love the most is Adam Duritz from Counting Crows singing Holiday in Spain, when he sings the line "couple of bananas and a bottle of booze" I go weak!

Art: That's just a testimony as to how much wiser you are than I am.

Ellie: I get that way over Jeff Buckley singing Lover You Should Have Come Over:

"My kingdom for a kiss upon her shoulder

It's never over,

all my riches for her smiles when I slept so soft against her...

It's never over,

All my blood for the sweetness of her laughter...

It's never over,

She's a tear that hangs inside my soul forever..."

But guys never say cool things like that. Don't tell anyone, but I'm a little bit of a romantic. Shhhh...

Apple is an angry leezer, if she and you stalked me and then kissed I'd watch maybe.

By the way you look tired, is that coco or coffee you're having at this late hour?

Awww Knudsen.. It was red wine, not anything warm and rich. And it may have been a mistake since I have an early morning at the office. So now I'm guzzling coffee like a sailor on shore leave guzzles any liquor he can get down his gullet. If I didn't look tired before, I certainly do now. Damn my circadian rhythms!

I have seen this Decades Live with EC a few times now and I really enjoyed Fiona's performance on this song. I love how it starts out almost like a lullaby "oh my baby, baby..." And then FWACK, it goes all angry and disturbing. Excellent.

I've met Elvis a few times - he's a very nice chappie. Not at all the angry geezer the press portrayed him as in the late 70's, early 80's.

If I had to be stalked, I think I'd pick...the guy I was checking out in line at Dunkin Donut in Harvard Square yesterday. Looked a bit like George Clooney, only more 'blue collar' in his work boots and dirty jeans. Hummm...Jaysis!

I wouldn't want to be stalked by anyone I genuinely was crushy towards--that's more fun to play with out in the open. I guess I'd just want to be stalked by someone distracted or aged, someone who would do a bad job of bothering me but who might occasionally drop a chocolate bar or a twenty dollar bill.

So I guess I'm the only one that finds it slightly ironic that anyone called "Apple" could be considered "stalk"er material :P

Terrifies me to my "core", or am I just being "seed"y?

I know...bad joke, but I'm nuts so I have an excuse.
